Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy

Photos and text compiled and designed by me. Photo credits to Samuel Branch (Unsplash.com) for the American flag image and Raffaele Nicolussi (Unsplash.com) for the Martin Luther King Jr. Statue image.

Thank you Lord, for Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you for the selfless, sacrificial life he gave so that men and women of color could experience greater freedom in this nation. Thank you for the monumental strides he made in the fight against racial injustice in this country. Thank you that Dr. King set a great example in following you Jesus, to turn the other cheek and love his enemies. Thank you that he believed your words and put them into practice: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9). I pray for the ongoing work that needs to be done in the fight against racial inequality and injustice in this country. Thank you that one day all God's children will finally and fully be free at last!

I encourage watching this beautiful tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. with clips from his "I Have a Dream" speech given on August 28, 1963.

I also highly recommend watching this inspiring video, which captures the biggest prison event ever recorded in United States History in 2022. This video features a gathering 1,300 prisoners coming together at a prison in Miami, Florida. The inmates joined with Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music for an incredible time of communal worship to Jesus.
